The Miracle League of Delray Beach – a baseball league for youths with mental, developmental and physical disabilities – has been a dream come true for its participants.
However, it’s been a dream realized the past few years only through the generosity of the Bucky Dent Baseball School, which allowed the use of temporary fields.
Now, the Miracle League will soon have its very own home field at Miller Park.
For league founders Jeff and Julia Kadel and a corps of dedicated volunteers, the league’s upcoming grand opening will be the culmination of six years of sweat and prayers, fundraising and playing on those temporary fields as a
means of providing play for a special group of athletes.
In a few weeks, the league will make its long-awaited move to its own specially constructed field at the park
complex off Linton Boulevard. Grand-opening ceremonies at the new field will begin at 2 p.m. May 15, and the
games will start at 2:30.
The remaining game dates for the spring season will be May 22 and 29 and June 5 and 12. Games are at 3:15 and 4:45 p.m.
